Nelsonville to Athens

Friday June 13, 2008 Today we took the bike trail from Nelsonville to Athens (Hocking College to Ohio University). 30 miles round trip on a shaded paved trail in 90+ heat is still hot. I don't think we saw more than 10 other bikers. After we finished we drove in to Logan, Ohio where they were having the washboard festival. The only factory in the US that still makes washboards is in Logan. We were going to get a beer and listen to some music on the big stage. But no beer, and people rubbing thimbles on a washboard is not what I call music. So off to the local bar where there was a guy playing guitar and singing. We had a great brew from the Columbus Hoster brewery. We talked to the bartender and we told him we had just rode 30 miles and were thirsty. After he told us about his favorite beer and I asked if they only had it in bottles and then he bought us one. It was ok but the Hoster was better. We also talked to one of the washboard players who was sitting at the bar. He was trying hard to get us to return for their concert to night. Must not be too many people that like people rubbing thimbles on washboards. He gave us a DVD of a concert in California. We will watch it someday. Back at camp we had thunderstorms. Too bad not concert tonight.
