Dale and Marylin arrived at the Kampground Saturday evening at about 7 pm. We hopped into the car and headed down the road to one of our favorite beaches to watch the sunset. Linda and I had packed up some snacks and a couple of bottles of wine for the trip.
After watching the sun go down we drove out to Orient Point to see the ferries and then in to Greenport for a light dinner. On Sunday we drove into Riverhead to meet up with the Millers at their hotel. We left our truck their and headed out to do some wine tasteing in their car. We decided to try a couple of wineries that we had not yet visited (I know it is hard to believe there are wineries we have not been to.) The first one was Dil'borto. We were the only ones there and had a very nice conversation with the owner, Sal, and his wife.
Winery #2 Jasons where we had another good conversation with the bartender and found a very good port.
Winery #3 Pindar a very nice field of sunflowers and big tasting bar.
No wine tasting would be complete without a trip to Duck Walk and a tasting from, Dara, our favorite bartender.
I am not sure what happened. Here we are at Osprey where we had lunch with out any wine and then got the bag chairs out of the car and zoned out for 2 hours and listened to the live music. We finally managed to make it in to the tasting room for our final tastes of the day.
On our way back to Greenport to eat we stopped at Horton Lighthouse. This lighthouse is on Long Island Sound and was commissioned by George Washington.
We finally made it to Claudio's for a light dinner.
We spent some time siteseeing before catching the South ferry over to Sag Harbor. The above picture is just one of the many houses we saw on Shelter Island.
Her we are having lunch at Sag Harbor.
Here is Montauk Lighthouse another one commisioned by George Washington.
Look Mom I'm at Tiffanys in the Hamptons.
Linda had to prove that she actually found the Barefoot Contessa's original shop.No road trip can be complete without a little taste.
We finished off a great weekend with pizza and 3 more bottles of wine at the Millers motel.
Since I am so far behind on getting the blog updated I am going to skip the winter update and Political rant.
