We took several long bike rides this week. On one ride I hit some loose sand and went over the handle bars. A little later on the same ride we were crossing a narrow bridge when I stopped to see the fish, Linda rear ended me. This was when I learned that the insurance rules that say if you rear end someone it is automatically your fault do not apply when your wife is behind you on a bike. (Linda's version is that when he sees water he stops immediately to look for fish and the bridge is one lane with concrete on both sides and nowhere to go) We also took our neighbors Bob & Kathy on the ride from South Shore Park to Round Island Park along A1A.
We spent made several bike trips to a few of the many thrift stores in the area. The only explanation we can come up with for all of the stores is the over abundance of retirees. When they die their next of kin apparently donate every thing to their favorite charity store.
On Thursday we loaded up the truck and drove for an hour and a half.
To spend three hours on this deserted lot with other squatters making new friends while
drinking two bottles of wine, eating sandwiches, a pound of cheese, and summer sausage.
All so we could spend 2 minutes looking at this. And it was worth every second spent waiting. This is the last launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery. The pictures were taken by a German man sitting next to us during the launch. Since he had a camera with a 12X lens we asked him to email us any good pictures he got. He sent these and says he is sending us a disk via USPS with all he took.

I took this movie on my camera. The sound you here at first is the wind as it was blowing pretty good. You will hear me say "here it comes, here it comes" That is when we started to hear the rumble of the rockets.
On Friday we went to lunch with our friends Rob and Dixie Banitt and then returned to our place to sample a few of my home brews. Rob and Dixie are members of our Church back home and have been with us on a couple of hurricane - flood rebuilding trips.
And they call me whale ass.
