Sunday was another cloudy day. We started with mass at Southwest Harbor and then took a drive around the south side of the island. We stopped at the Bass Harbor Lighthouse but it was too foggy to get many good pictures.
After Lunch we headed to Bar Harbor to do a little more exploring. We stopped for a tasting just down the road. Their wines were OK but overpriced for what they are.
Escargot anyone?
We think we know why it is called Bar Harbor. This sand bar is dry during low tide and allows you to walk out to Bar Island. From the top of Bar Island there is a great view of the Harbor. The pictures below were taken from Bar Island.
We had a few tastes at Bar Harbor Brewing and purchased a growler of stout. We stopped just down the road on the way home and picked up some dinner. They sell fresh lobster for $6.99 lb. and crabs for $2 a piece and will cook them for free.
