Lake Mead, NV

We have moved on to a new location in the Lake Mead National Park. We are camped at the Boulder Beach campground. The picture above is our site and below is our view.

We took a bike ride from our campground to Boulder Dam about 6 miles one way. There is a nice paved trail that runs along the lake for miles. The last 4 miles is a gravel trail on an old railroad bed that was used during construction of the dam.
Here is our campground from part way up the trail. On the way home I went the last two miles without peddling.
You can see how far the water level in the lake has fallen over the years. But as usual we are helping the cause. Our niece says it has rained more since we have been here than it did all of last year.

Here we are on the trail.
When we were here 40 years ago this is all that was here. Today there is a large parking garage and visitors center.

You can ride this paddle wheeler from the marina in the above pictures to the dam and back.
Below are some of the pictures we took yesterday on our trip to the Valley of Fire. It was a cloudy most of the time so the color is not as vibrant as it should be. I hope you enjoy them anyway.
