Jerome, AZ

Yesterday we took a ride to Jerome an old copper mining town built on the side of a mountain in the late 1800's.  On the way we stopped by Lynx Lake in the Prescott National Forest.  There were several people fishing in the lake but we never saw any fish being pulled in.
It is 24 miles of narrow winding road to Jerome with some great views but only one or two places to pull off and look at the view.

You can see the road well below.

We believe the town you see in the valley is Cottonwood.
Entering Jerome

Looking down at Cottonwood and across the valley from the streets of Jerome.   Below you can see the snow covered peaks of the Frisco Mountains near Flagstaff.
As you can see mining was not the profession that paid well when Jerome was booming.

This pot of flowers had a kaleidoscopic pointed at it.   Below is a picture taken looking through it.

We thought we were back in Italy for a minute when we saw this place down the hill.

This looks like a better way to make money than selling candy.  Set out a few old commodes and let people throw money at them.

Above you can see how copper mining operations  cut away the mountain.

To the left is a towel that Linda thought I needed.  It as on sale in one of the shops.

We saw these guys walking around when we got back to the campground.
