In and Around Boulder City

The Coffee Cup Cafe seen here was featured on the Cooking Channel's Drive-Ins, Diners, and Dives.  Linda's sister Mary was in town so we thought we would try it. The food was very good I had the specialty, Green Chile Omelet.  While it was good for $9 the portion was skimpy.
Boulder City was built and funded by the US government in the 1930's when the Boulder Dam was built.  It was where the Dam workers lived.
These three pictures are of the Catholic Church and grounds.  It looks like it is in Israel.

Mary and her husband Rick hit the local antique shops where ever they go.  Boulder City has quite a few and Linda could not resist this See's delivery man and cart.

Just a few of the small places with great views of Lake Mead.   These guys must have owned the land where they built the dam.

Just behind these houses is a trail to the top of Black Mountain.  It is a 2.5 mile hike with a 1200'  vertical.
This red Mountain is next to Black Mountain and the trial runs up the wash between the two mountains.

A couple of small caves we passed on the hike.
From the saddle people say that the bench on top looks like mountain sheep.  And now you see Black Mountain is black.

We saw this van unload a group of people with helmets on near the summit of the red mountain.
We thought maybe they were rock climbing or repelling or spelunking.  But later we saw them zip-lining down the mountain.
This looks like an old Nike site on top of the red Mountain.

It was a little hazy but you can still make out Las Vegas.

Here we are at the summit.
There are a few switchbacks to get down.
